STYMPHALIA ENVIRONMENT MUSEUM

Stymphalia Environment Museum

Environment Museum of Stymphalia, located near the famous lake Stymphalia in the mountainous region of northern Peloponnese, in Greece was launched in early October 2009. It is a museum of and for the Environment and a main part of its content is based on ideas, processes, and abstract relationships, rather than objects. Hence, technology has played an important role in supporting the interpretative, educational and experiential strategy set forth by the curators. The digital four exhibits, presented here as one project, are fully integrated in the museum, forming the main support tools to the content but also becoming, as installations, the exhibited objects themselves. All four exhibits are placed in the main exhibition “corridor” of the museum. The installations regards: “Geological Formations in the Stymphalia Region”, “Hadrian’s Aqueduct”, “Myths and Birdlife of the lake”, “Stymphalia: a virtual journey through the site from Antiquity to the Middle Ages”. Accessible at: Environment Museum of Stymphalia, Greece. Developed by: makebelieve design & consulting, (http://www.makebelieve.gr/mb/www/) Piraeus Bank Group Cultural Foundation.
